Health Screening

There are a number of screening programs run by Public Health and the Health Protection teams in Wales.

The tests focus on early detection of cancers. Click on any of the titles to visit the Public Health Wales information pages.

Bowel Screening

Patients over 50 will be sent a home testing kit every two years. The test requires a very small amount of your poo to be sent off for analysis in the pack provided.

Breast Test Wales
Female patients between the ages of 50 and 70 will be invited for a mammogram (x-ray of the breast tissue) every 3 years. Breast cancer is currently the most common cancer in the UK.
Cervical Screening
Cervical screening is carried out on patients with a cervix between the ages of 25 and 64. You'll receive an invite to attend for a smear test every 5 years. A tiny sample of the cells from your cervix is taken using a soft brush.
